“o Santo inimigo do mal” is the artistic and performance name of Saint Clair C Araujo, a Brazilian visual artist born in Porangatu, Goiás. He began his work in 2004, and after a hiatus he resumed his current production in 2020. His academic background includes a degree in Architecture from the Federal University of Goiás and Portland State University, in the United States. His production transits between different visual media and nurtures a particular affection for sculpture and painting. He works between pornography, mystery and libertarianism as a place of (re)invention of the world. He has participated in exhibitions at Galeria A Pilastra (2024), the 4th Vórtice Cultural Festival of Erotic Art (2025) and DeCurators (2025). He was awarded by Funarte (Brazil) in 2022, on the occasion of the Centenary of Semana de 22. His work is inspired by his erotic-spiritual adventures and by provocations from people such as Georges Bataille, Roberto Freire and Osho. Santo's work can be summarized as a visual exploration of the explicit in an autobiographical tone. Like an expanded field of the pornographic gesture where the obscene and the hierophany come together in the same prayer.

“Art emerges in me as an erotic-spiritual desire that points to the crosses between mystery and the concrete. I materialize in pornography, as pornography and for pornography, where I offer a particular and plural narrative, of perceptions, just as in orgasm, just as in life.”
